What we can do for you
Solving practical industrial problems
The primary goal of the EpiCentre is to stimulate
innovation, growth and job creation in the region by assisting companies
to overcome technological challenges. At EpiCentre we adopt
a pragmatic and can-do attitude. We engage with local companies
to create practical hands-on partnership projects. Previously
companies in the North West would have had to go to Belfast,
Dublin or overseas for this type of technology support service.
EpiCentre is assisting local companies not only to reduce
their costs but also to significantly reduce their lead-times
for technology development. Examples of the type of projects
on which we are working with client companies include:
- Rapid prototyping including 3D modelling/fabrication
- PCB design and build
- RFID consulting and testing
- Wireless networking and connectivity
- Programmable Logic Controllers - simulation and testing
- Embedded systems development
- Robotic applications
Access to Specialised equipment
The EpiCentre has invested heavily in establishing at each
of our three sites a managed workspace with specialised technical
equipment. Access to this equipment brings real value to our
clients by allowing us to adopt a very hands-on and practical
approach to our projects.

and facilities here.
Access to expertise
At each site we have an experienced technical specialist
who will be your dedicated client partner. Within the project
team there is an accumulation of decades of experience covering
a very broad range of expertise including: mechanical engineering,
new product design and development, rapid prototyping, electronic
engineering, telecommunications, wireless technologies, RFID
systems, PCB prototyping, PLC systems, software design and
development, embedded systems, sensor technologies. In addition
the team can draw upon the vast expertise of colleagues across
the three academic institutions.

Networking Centre
The EpiCentre acts as a networking centre to facilitate knowledge
sharing and network building. Our ethos at the EpiCentre
is to be as accessible and user-friendly as possible to our
client companies. We have an open door approach and encourage
local companies to informally drop by our facilities in UU
Magee, NWRC and LYIT at any time. We also hold regular networking
events bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, industrialists
and academics.

page.
Knowledge Centre
The EpiCentre also acts as a foresight unit, monitoring technology
trends in industry with the goal of providing training and
seminars to local industry and helping to develop a strategy
for the future development of the North West cross border
region.
You can check out our schedule of training
events and seminars here.
Signposting
While the focus of EpiCentre is technology partnership, we
do understand that our client companies are faced with a multitude
of issues ranging from finance planning / business planning
/ sourcing of funding / marketing & sales etc. There is
a wealth of support available for companies in the region
and the EpiCentre team will signpost companies to the appropriate
body for support.
